Western U.S. Event Slides - Orbs Launching Orbs / Large Fiery Orb / Dark Kite

Date May 8, 2026
Location Western United States
Type Briefing slides
Pages 4

AARO briefing slides summarizing three distinct UAP events observed by federal law enforcement. 'Orbs Launching Orbs' -- orange orbs emitting smaller red orbs. 'Large, Fiery Orb' -- glowing orange orb ~12-18 meters in diameter compared to the Eye of Sauron. 'Dark Kite' -- triangular object with red and white lights that moved laterally at 15-20 mph with zero resistance, observed through NVGs.

Six federal law enforcement agents across three independent teams watched an orange orb — 12 to 18 meters wide, perched beside a rock pinnacle — that one observer compared to the Eye of Sauron. That wasn't the strangest part of their two nights in the Western U.S. They also saw the orange "mother" orbs launch smaller red orbs in groups of two to four, a dark triangular "kite" that drifted laterally off a road at 15-20 mph with zero apparent resistance, and a semi-transparent kite-shaped object that blocked a spotlight beam at 50 yards while stars remained faintly visible through its body. AARO's own measurements put the large orb at roughly 1,050 meters from the observers. These aren't civilian accounts. They're trained special agents with night-vision equipment, reporting structured objects at close range over consecutive evenings.

  • Orange orbs launched smaller red orbs in groups of 2-4; the "mother" orb visible for only 1-2 seconds before disappearing
  • AARO assessed the large orange orb at approximately 1,050 meters from observers and 12-18 meters in diameter
  • The "Dark Kite" initially appeared as a car but moved laterally off-road without changing orientation, with "zero resistance"
  • AARO later assessed the Dark Kite as triangular in shape
  • A semi-transparent kite-shaped object was observed through NVGs with stars faintly visible through it
  • The transparent object appeared to block a spotlight beam at ~50 yards before the light resumed projecting normally
  • Events occurred on two separate days at dusk in a restricted zone

observationsOrange orbs observed emitting/launching smaller red orbs in groups of two to four (three being general consensus). Events occurred at least five times. Orange orb visible for one or two seconds before disappearing after launching red orbs. Red orbs generally moved away from orange "mother" orb in horizontal path. In some instances, one red orb moved "heading up at an angle." Other instances showed red orbs "swoop down" after launch. Events occurred on two separate days at dusk. Multiple teams observed from varying locations and vantage points. Unclear whether single orange mother orb released all groups or multiple orange orbs involved.
quotes
  • "Three teams of two federal law enforcement special agents each (USPER1 through USPER6) independently describe seeing orange 'orbs' in the sky emit/launch smaller red 'orbs' in groups of two to four, with three being the general consensus." | briefing document
  • "The orange orb was only visible for one or two seconds." | briefing document
  • "The red orbs would generally move away from the orange 'mother' orb in a horizontal path, but in a couple of instances, one red orb was stated to move 'heading up at an angle,' while another witness stated sometimes the red orbs would 'swoop down' after being launched from the larger orange orb." | briefing document

observationsGlowing orange orb observed at distance of approximately 500-600 meters from witnesses, perched close to rock pinnacle. Size difficult to determine but appeared similar to "small helicopter cockpit." Witnesses unable to clearly see structure other than glowing orb. USPER6 noted object "did almost appear it might have had a small spindle or something connecting it from underneath to the rock formation." No noticeable sound emitted. Object described as "similar to the Eye or [sic] Sauron from Lord of the Rings, except without the pupil, or maybe an orange Storm Electrify bowling ball." USPER6 stated object "seemed to be hovering with zero resistance or movement, or to be suspended..." Sighting lasted approximately one minute. AARO measurements assess object distance at approximately 1050 meters and diameter between 12-18 meters.
assessments
  • Size similar to small helicopter cockpit | USPER5 and USPER6
  • Object possibly connected to rock formation by small spindle | USPER6
  • Object hovering with zero resistance or movement, or suspended | USPER6
  • Actual distance approximately 1050 meters from observers | AARO
  • Actual diameter 12-18 meters | AARO

  • restricted zone | area where road is located
  • desert | terrain where object moved
observationsObject initially appeared as car traveling on road in restricted zone with two lights (one red, one white) approximately 2 to 3 feet off ground. When agents pursued and got within few hundred feet, object suddenly moved off road over desert without changing orientation relative to observers, appearing to move laterally at estimated speed of 15-20mph. Object maintained constant height and appeared to move with "zero resistance." Object stopped approximately 100 meters off side of road and turned off lights. USPER6 described object as "thin line" from back view; USPER5 stated it "almost looked like an ill defined, dark kite shape that had some rounded width to the sides." USPER6 used night vision goggles (NVGs) and observed object for "a split second in the NVGs before the light turned off," after which a "very thin line" remained. Object estimated at approximately 4 feet wide, positioned horizontally to ground. Object then moved at approximately 15-20mph and appeared to "move up in height..., but [remain] a flat line." Agent lost sight after few seconds. AARO later assessed object as triangular in shape.
assessments
  • Initially misidentified as car | witnesses
  • Object appears to be dark kite shape with rounded sides | USPER5
  • Object is thin line when viewed from rear | USPER6
  • Triangular in shape | AARO
quotes

  • "The object suddenly moved off the road over the desert without changing its orientation with respect to the observers, i.e., it appeared to move laterally, at an estimated speed of 15-20mph." | briefing document
  • "The object appeared to move with 'zero resistance.'" | briefing document
  • "USPER6 described the object as a 'thin line,' from the back whereas the other agent (USPER5) stated that 'it almost looked like an ill defined, dark kite shape that had some rounded width to the sides.'" | briefing document
  • "USPER6 used night vision goggles (NVGs) to view the object once it had stopped off the road." | briefing document
  • "The agent stated that they observed the object for 'a split second in the NVGs before the light turned off' and that once the lights were off, a 'very thin line' remained." | briefing document
  • "The object was estimated to be about 4 feet wide and positioned horizontally to the ground." | briefing document
  • "The object then began moving at about the speed of 15-20mph and appeared to 'move up in height…, but [remain] a flat line.'" | briefing document
  • "The agent lost sight of the object after a few seconds." | briefing document
  • "In later discussions with AARO, the object is described as being triangular." | briefing document

locations
  • Western U.S. | location of sighting
  • few hundred meters from "Dark Kite" sighting | proximity to previous sighting
observationsKite-shaped object with lighting pattern similar to previously observed "Dark Kite" sighting. Object positioned approximately 6 meters off ground, canted at angle from lower right to upper left. Object appeared to be floating slowly with wind. USPER5 observed through night vision goggles (NVGs) and USPER6 observed with bare eye. USPER7 did not see object. USPER5 stated that in NVGs they could "vaguely see a bright star or two in the distance through the object, though somewhat more faint," leading to belief that object was somewhat transparent. After losing sight, USPER5 attempted to relocate with spotlight. Witness noted that when shining light around, "at one point my beam went from shining far into the distance to stopping about 50 yards away on nothing in particular, it just was not projecting into the distance and then it was." When witness pointed light at spot where light appeared blocked, light was "projecting into the distance again." Team unable to reacquire sight of object. Lighting pattern remained in exact formation though outline was not definitive.
assessments
  • Object somewhat transparent | USPER5
  • Object floating slowly with wind | observed behavior
  • Object may have been blocking/refracting spotlight beam | inferred from witness observation
